Photopolymerization is a process in which a liquid monomer or a mixture of monomers undergoes polymerization when exposed to UV light. This exposure initiates a chemical reaction that causes the monomers to cross-link and form a solid polymer network.
- Liquid hydrophobic material exposed to UV rays in optical mould couples.
- Lenses are produced by frontal UV curing technology and do not need any external process such as polishing or varnishing for obtaining the surface smoothness.
- Lenses manufactured with polymerization technology have three times better surface quality compared to lenses which are manufactured against lathe cut technology.
